The Liverpool Business and Property Court Forum (LBPCF) hosted Mr Justice Leech, the Vice Chancellor of the County Palatine of Lancaster, and Lord Justice Birss, the Chancellor of the High Court, on Tuesday the 21st April 2026. The event was chaired by Liverpool based specialist circuit judge, His Honour Judge Cadwallader. The event was held at Hundred Court Chambers. Thank you to chambers for hosting the event and providing the excellent hospitality.
The event featured a lecture by Mr Justice Leech on witness evidence. This was a fascinating talk that examined case law, how memories are created, the rule in Gestmin, and much more besides. The judge took us through several cases and explored issues arising from written evidence and oral evidence from various types of witnesses. There was much food for thought contained in the lecture, including some excellent conclusion points for practitioners to consider when thinking about witness evidence. The manuscript will be available on the speeches area of the site soon.
The lecture was followed by a question and answer session with the three judges and the audience of local practitioners, students, and members of the public. Drinks followed. Thank you to the speakers, audience, and hosts for contributing to the event.
