The Liverpool Business and Property Court Forum (LBPCF) co-hosted a very timely and interesting event with the Technology and Construction Court (TCC) on July 17th in the Brett Lecture Theatre at the University of Liverpool. Local practitioners from the legal, surveying and broader building industry were in attendance to hear from Mr Justice Waksman, Mr Justice Constable and Judge Holbrook (all pictured below).
The distinguished panel discussed various aspects of the Building Safety Act 2002, recent case law, policy, and reform developments. In addition to the main thrust of the Building Safety Act 2022 discussions there were also some interesting points on the history of building regulation ranging back to the 17th century as well as a discussion of the most recent Supreme Court decision in the area. Artificial Intelligence (AI) was also discussed in terms of judicial use, but also by way of an amusing building litigation limerick. His Honour Judge Davies chaired the discussion.
The panel event was followed by drinks where local practitioners (pictured below) were able to ask the panel questions on this important topic.
